I obtained my PhD degree from the EECS department in University of California Berkeley in 2000, and was a senior researcher in Hewlett-Packard Laboratories Japan from 2000 till 2009. I served as assistant, then associate professor in National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo Japan from 2009 to 2018. I currently serve as associate professor in the Department of EECS in York University, Toronto, Canada. I am a fellow of IEEE (Signal Processing Society).

I currently serve as associate editor for  EURASIP Signal Processing: Image Communication, and  APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing. I am a visiting aossicate professor in National Insitute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo, Japan.
