14 A simple circuit 1

Remove resistor \(R2\) from the breadboard.

Find a light emitting diode (LED) in the box of electronic components. An LED looks like the device shown below:

Notice that one terminal of the LED is longer than the other. The longer terminal is the positive terminal of the LED. The shorter terminal is the negative terminal of the LED. Electric current can flow through the LED only from the positive terminal to the negative terminal.

Insert the LED into the breadboard so that the negative terminal is connected to resistor as shown in the figure below:
