Tests

Assessment in this course is based on two tests and a final exam. The tests are held in the lab periods on Thursdays, as shown on the Schedule page. Each assessment is preceded by projects that prepare for it. Think of the projects as learning tools, not assessments to be submitted, so you should do them. Discuss them with others, and ask questions about them on the course forum.

test key when weight graded by status
Test 1 T1 Thurs, 21 Oct (during Labs) 25% Sun, 31 Oct Graded
Test 2 T2 Thurs, 25 Nov (during Labs) 25% Sun, 5 Dec Graded
Final Exam FE Thurs, 16 Dec (9:00AM - 11:00AM) 40% TBD Ended

Labs

There are five (5) lab projects, each spanning two (2) lab sessions spread evenly throughout the term. These are not assessments as that they will not be graded. However, like participation, to encourage you to attend the lab sessions and complete the lab projects in a timely manner, the labs will each account for 1%, adding up to 5% of the total mark. Instead of deadlines, think of the dates listed below as checkpoints to pace your progress through the projects. For each lab submitted and sufficiently completed by the specified dates, you receive the 1% pass-fail grade. You may continue to submit labs after the specified checkpoints.

project key when weight grade checkpoint (due dates) status
Project A A Thurs, 16 Sep 1% At 5:00PM on Thurs, 21 Oct (Extended) Closed
Project B B Thurs, 30 Sep 1% At 5:00PM on Thurs, 21 Oct Closed
Project C C Thurs, 28 Oct 1% At 5:00PM on Thurs, 25 Nov Closed
Project D D Thurs, 11 Nov 1% At 5:00PM on Thurs, 25 Nov Closed
Project E E Thurs, 2 Dec 1% At 8:00AM on Thurs, 16 Dec Closed

Participation

There is a participation mark for 5% of the total mark. Classes will include discussion and problem-solving. While live attendance of the lectures is not required in general, it is expected that students will generally be attending.

Grades

The weight of any missed component will be transferred according the policy here. You can view your marks on ePost. Conversion of the overall numeric mark to a letter grade:
