Lab#1 has been updated

Lab#1 has been updated and improved on the basis of feedback from today's lab. The substance of the lab is the same, but the write-up has been tweaked. If you successfully completed the lab today, these changes will likely not have any consequence for you.

Update: Policy on Lab Sections

An update has been made to the FAQ entry concerning the course policy on lab attendance. See question (3a) If I am enrolled in lab section X, can I attend lab section Y instead? and question (3b) Is it possible to make alternative arrangements in advance for the labtests (e.g., in the case of conflicts)?

Regarding Lab#1

The exercise for Lab#1 has been written up and is now available in the course materials. In Thursday's LAB01 section, we completed the same steps, although the exercise was conducted verbally. Students from section 01 may yet find the write-up handy as a reference.

A reiteration: Lab #1 is an absolutely essential lab exercise that must be done by any student who has any hope of successfully completing the weekly labtests. Since the weekly labtests begin in the week following Lab#1, this lab is time-sensitive!!! This exercise is the topic of the first week's lab. Students who attended lab but who could not do the exercise (due to an inability to log in, etc) and students who missed lab MUST do this lab on their own.
