No, you can remove them. You may want to retain the ground polygon though.
What if my assignment #2 isn't very good?
You can use another group's assignment #2 if you want. Of course you will reference them. (The team whose assignment is most popular will receive a bonus.)
Your job is to extend your assignment 2 so that the user can interactively add and manipulate objects in the scene. In particular, the objects that you will create will be surfaces of revolution. You will draw the cross-section in any one of the 3 orthographic windows and the surface will then be automatically created. You have flexibility in terms of manipulation possibilities.
The assignment is open-ended. You could, for example, modify the surface interactively by modifying the curve. You could allow for multiple surfaces of revolution. You could apply potentially apply transformations to the surfaces.
You are to work in pairs on this assignment.
