Version 5 of Java introduced hexadecimal floating point literals. However, these are not fully defined in The Java Language Specification, Third Edition, by James Gosling, Bill Joy, Guy Steele, and Gilad Bracha. A good discussion of this feature appears in Five Favourite Features from 5.0, by David Flanagan.
