Exercise Set 1 was handed out in class on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. The reports for this exercise set must be submitted before 4:00 PM on Monday, October 5, 2009. Reports submitted after that time will not be accepted.
Extra copies of the exercise set are available during regular business hours in the office of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, which is temporarily located in the Lumbers Building, room 340 (first building north of the CSE building).
There is a typographical error in Exercise Set 1. It states that reports for this exercise set must be submitted before 4:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2009. This should read "Monday, October 5, 2009".

However, these are not fully defined in The Java Language Specification, Third Edition, by James Gosling, Bill Joy, Guy Steele, and Gilad Bracha. A good discussion of this feature appears in Five Favourite Features from 5.0, by David Flanagan.
