Feb 27, 2007 –  Here are the slides for Chapter 6, HCI in the Software Process.

Feb 23, 2007 –  The midterm is prepared.  As noted in class, the format of the exam is "short answer".  The exam covers chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.  Sorry, no questions from Chapter 5.

Feb 22, 2007 –  Click here to view the results of the questionnaire (Edinburgh Inventory) on handedness we did in class today.  Click here to view the questionnaire.

Feb 5, 2007 – (a few hours later…) OK, the submit command is now working.  Please submit Assignment 1 asap.

Feb 5, 2007 –There was a problem with the "submit" command for submissions of Assignment 1.  Sorry about that.  I'll be giving an extension, but would still like everyone to submit their assignments using the submit command (as opposed to email attachments).  Please watch here for further instructions.

Feb 1, 2007 –A question was raised today about the proper way to format citations and references.  As I mentioned, you can look in ACM conference papers to see how it is done.  Click here to see a recent paper of mine in an ACM-sponsored conference.  Please use this as an example of the formatting for citations and references.

Jan 11, 2007 – Here are the slides for Chapter 1, The Human (01.pdf).  Note that I added a URL on slide 42 to a paper of mine that uses analogy or metaphor in the design of a new interaction technique.

Jan 4, 2007 –The measure of handedness noted in class today is called the "Edinburgh Inventory".  It rates handedness from –100 for strong left-handedness to +100 for strong right-handedness.  It was first proposed by R. C. Oldfield in 1971.  A Google search will produce more information, if you are interested.  Does "colour blindness" (discussed briefly in the text on page 18), like handedness, exist in a continuum?  Is there a measure of such?  I'm not sure, but perhaps you can investigate this further.

Jan 4, 2007 –Re the "cocktail party effect" noted in classed today and discussed in the text on page 24, see also the entry in Wikipedia on The Cocktail Party Effect.

Dec 7, 2006 – 4441 web page up and running.  Look here for announcements, downloads, etc.
