Students
are expected to be tested on all topics covered in the course. This is
an important factor in determining whether the students have fulfilled
their prerequisite requirements. Skipping the midterm test nullifies
this objective.
The
midterm covers one part, and the final exam covers mostly the remaining
part with somewhat lesser emphasis on the material covered prior to the
midterm. However, the materials covered in the course build on top of
the previous material. So, not having a good foundation on those
previous topics will negatively affect grasping the later topics.
You are trusted to do your best in your studies and carry out your fair share of responsibilities.
We
hear a number of cases like, “I missed the test because I wasn't
feeling well for this or that reason, and by the way, here is my
doctor's note”. We know that most of such claims are disingenuous or
bogus. They use procrastination to evade facing responsibility. This
fact does not escape our attention. These individuals are under the
misguided impression that by such bogus claims they can get away by not
doing the test, and in the short run, have some sort of advantage over
those who do take the test. They are sadly mistaken. This sort of
cheating will later come back to haunt them. They will not be as well
prepared for the rest of the course and beyond. We also have our ways
of dealing with such non-student like conduct. In the long run such
behaviour does not pay off!!!
